Warning – Nominal Ledger Imbalance

Warning - Nominal Ledger Imbalance

Appears during Audit Trail, Trial Balance, Management Reports.

Because …..The Nominal Ledger tables must remain in balance – i.e. for each journal entry, every Debit balance must have a corresponding Credit balance – see A Rough Guide to Bookkeeping.

Occasionally, for reasons beyond control of the software – e.g. PC crashes, power supply surges or outages, computer viruses etc. – this balance can be compromised if journals are posted incomplete or if historically-posted data is corrupted.

The system checks the balance of the Nominal Ledger tables before running these reports and warns if the tables are found to be imbalanced.

Therefore…..The content of these key management reports is driven by the Nominal Ledger tables. If these are imbalanced, the reports, and therefore Management Information, will be compromised.

Resolution…….The software includes routines to correct for Nominal Ledger tables imbalance and these should be run immediately before any further reports are produced or circulated. If in doubt you should contact your Prelude supplier:
Click OK to close the warning form.
Run Reorganise Databases routine – see Optimise System Storage.
Make the appropriate correcting journal entries. Balancing entries are posted to the suspense account.
