Overview

Purpose: Prelude Desktop products allow users to control the way in which transactions are processed by selecting Parameters from a list of options linked to each Module. Once set, the parameters can be changed at any time.

First time users might want to consider contacting Prelude support who will be able to advise as to the best combination of parameters to use to support your business. Remember that changes will only affect processing taking place after the change – any transactions processed before the change will not be affected.

You should set up the general parameters and the security that you require:

  • When using the system for the first time.
  • When creating a new company – see Create New Companies.
  • When your business needs change – you may need to process data in a different way than before.
  • When expanding and/or reorganising your business.
  • When you need to restrict user access to companies – to create a password to be input each time the company is selected.

Preparation: Do I need to do this? – if you are unsure please contact your supplier or distributor for help.
– Ensure all other users are off the system.
– Select the Source Company – See Change Companies.
– If editing an existing company ensure you have an up-to-date backup of the company data both before and after making any changes – see Back Up & Restore Company Data.

Processing: In Prelude Desktop Products on the main menu Click View > Parameters > select from the menu list as required – Here is the full list of parameter pages – not all them will be included in your software.

You may consider changing Company passwords – keep a note of what these are and the date on which they changed in the same way as above.
